Not a surface film — the switchable layer is laminated permanently inside the sealed insulated glass unit, then set in a thermally-broken aluminum frame.
Which route is mine?
- A window or glass door that opens → smart film on the existing glass. The ML76S / ML85S are fixed units, and film has already gone onto a lakeside slider in Camarillo and French doors in Burbank.
- A fixed picture window with good glass → smart film. Nothing is pulled or reframed, and most homes are done in a day.
- New construction or a remodel → the complete ML76S or ML85S window. If your window supplier is providing the frames, we fabricate laminated smart glass panels to your glazing sizes instead.
- Fogged or failed glass you are replacing anyway → a new sealed smart glass window. Film goes on the room-side face, so it can't clear fog trapped between the panes.

Yes. Smart View manufactures two factory-built models, the ML76S and the ML85S Slim: fixed picture windows with the switchable layer laminated inside the insulated glass unit, set in a slim thermally-broken aluminum frame. Both are NFRC-certified (ratings below) and built at our Canoga Park manufacturing facility in Los Angeles. Smart glass windows that keep the view
Big fixed windows are the best feature of LA hillside and view homes, and their biggest privacy problem. A smart glass picture window solves it in the glass itself: an uninterrupted view in clear mode, total privacy in frosted mode, switched in milliseconds from the wireless remote while daylight keeps flowing. The switchable layer is laminated permanently inside the sealed unit, so there's nothing to lift, peel, or maintain. These are smart windows in the full sense: the switchable layer is built into a certified, insulated window unit, with published U-Factor, SHGC, and Visible Transmittance in two slim aluminum frames.
