Partitions are where most office privacy problems live: the glass fronts of private offices along an open floor, the meeting pods set into the middle of it, the sidelights beside every door. Each one is there to keep the floor bright and connected, and each one fails the moment a conversation needs to stay in the room. There are two ways to make them switch. Smart film bonds to the partition glass already standing, cut to each pane and wired to a concealed transformer, usually after hours and with nothing removed — the route for nearly every fit-out we see. Laminated smart glass panels make sense when the partitions are being built or replaced anyway, because the switchable layer arrives sealed inside the glass.
