Smart Glass Office, Newport Beach

A Newport Beach CEO wanted both worlds in his executive office: a floor-to-ceiling glass wall overlooking the company’s open workspace, and total privacy on demand for confidential meetings. In 2025, we installed smart glass office Newport Beach — retrofitting ~50 sqft of PDLC switchable smart glass film onto the existing glass wall. The wall transitions from fully transparent to fully opaque in under a second, with no frame removal and no downtime.

The Problem

The executive office was built around openness — a single uninterrupted full-height glass wall keeping the CEO visually connected to his team while preserving executive separation. The trade-off: every confidential meeting, phone call, or sensitive document review meant hauling in temporary blinds or relocating the conversation.

• Instant privacy on demand without sacrificing the architectural intent
• Zero glass replacement — the existing wall stays exactly where it is
• A control simple enough that it never slows down a meeting

The Solution

We retrofitted PDLC switchable smart glass film directly onto the existing full-height glass wall. The film transitions from frosted to crystal-clear the instant power is applied, so the office looks identical to before when clear and becomes fully opaque when privacy is needed. Smart glass office Newport Beach installs like this rely on tight-tolerance film cutting and reliable low-voltage routing — both handled in-house at our smart glass installation team and Canoga Park warehouse.

Our team handled the full process: site survey, dust-free film application, low-voltage electrical tie-in, and final testing. Wiring was routed discreetly so nothing about the office’s high-end minimalist aesthetic changed.

The Outcome

The CEO’s office now switches from fully transparent to fully private in under a second. On a normal workday the wall reads exactly as it did before — clean, modern, glass-forward. The moment a confidential meeting starts, one button frosts the entire wall. Feedback after install centered on how the upgrade feels invisible until it’s needed — visitors don’t realize there’s a switchable layer until they see the transition. We documented a similar commercial office privacy retrofit in our Beverly Hills conference rooms project for a comparable scope.
