In 2026, we installed smart glass kitchen Seal Beach during the new-construction phase of a private residence — 50 sqft of PDLC switchable smart film applied to a single long horizontal letterbox window above a row of dark-wood lower cabinets. The window runs across the wall in place of a traditional tile backsplash, and it faces the street, so the homeowner needed switchable privacy without losing the daylight that made the window-as-backsplash design worth doing in the first place.
The kitchen was still mid-build when we did the install — plywood protecting the island countertop, recessed lighting cans unfinished, plastic over the work surface. - A finish-ready install completed before move-in, with wiring and transformer hidden inside the cabinetry
- Daylight preserved when privacy isn’t needed — frosted vinyl or fixed treatments would have killed the point of the design

Because the install ran during active construction, the transformer was tucked into the lower cabinetry run and the wiring concealed behind drywall before final finishes went in. The tech is straightforward: power on, the liquid-crystal layer aligns and the glass clears; power off, the crystals randomize and the glass turns to opaque white. Switching is instant.
